India Summer eBook Therésè
Reading this book was like being forced to watch a TV shopping channel. It seemed to be all about products and name brands with very brief bits of a story thrown in. For example, when she was invited to dinner, it felt like just another prop used to name drop another list of expensive designer clothes and accessories. There were a lot of inconsistencies, dropped story lines, illogical events, and any number of flaws that made this book, for me, not particularly interesting. The author shows potential, but this just didn't come together this time.

India Summer eBook Therésè Reviews
There were a lot of good points to this book. India's character was pretty well-developed and I felt for her journey. That being said, in the beginning, I really thought I might be reading Bridget Jones' Diary, Part 3. India was an ageing, single, unsure Brit who wanted romance and a change from her humble life. That took a turn when she visited her actress sister in LA.
It offered an unbelievable story line involving a cast of beautiful, famous and rich socialites. There was an emphasis on beauty and name brands. I was hoping there would be a point in the story where India realized name brands and expensive things don't buy happiness. Nope.
The book actually seemed rushed as well. Episodes of her story were rushed over. It gave me the idea that this was a first time novelist (which it is, I believe). So it's still better than any novel I could have written.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book. It puts too much emphasis on fame and beauty providing happiness.
The book is about such a different way of life that it could almost be about a foreign country with a culture very different from mine. The characters are sympathetic and made me feel that they could be my friends, despite the different lifestyle. Interesting and fun.
This is not in the category of fine, classic literature, but it makes a nice read when traveling or on vacation. The writing is good enough that it is engaging and not distracting. Definitely more of a "chick" book. It doesn't take much time to get through and can be read in multiple sessions without losing anything.
It took me quite a while to figure where this story was going. Too much emphasis on name brands when describing clothing, shoes or accessories. I also had to look up a few of the "British" words to figure out what they were saying
the characters in this book pull you in and you become a part of them. The attention to detail by the writer is great. she gives little details that fully brings each and every character alive and makes you want to meet them. I love the relationship between India and Annabelle. I would recommend this book to everyone.
India's Summer is a light-hearted, simply written story with a big message about values and family. The plot is original with India, a special needs teacher as the main character. India is transplanted from the UK to Hollywood and like most of us not from Southern California, India is initially absorbed by the sharply different lifestyle of Beverly Hills seeing only the glitz, glamor, clothes, cars, and seamless tans. Quickly though, India begins to see beyond the superficiality and gloss of the lives of the mothers, fathers, and children she meets. Although India has never had her own children, working with troubled teens as a specialist teacher in the UK has given her a unique perspective on helping kids. Can some of the skills and techniques she used as an educator to underprivileged kids help these families who appear to have so much, get back on track? As with many well-written modern fables, Therese has created a simple story easy to read and quickly consumed. However, do not kid yourself, within are vital messages about family, connection, and truth.
Thankfully I got this free a while ago, but even if I hadn't it is still a relatively good book. Fast paced story, very much on a lighter side. Only downfall in my opinion was the constant mentioning of what brand of shoes, purse, dress and whatnot. A bit like non stop commercials, the story could've done without those embellishments.
Reading this book was like being forced to watch a TV shopping channel. It seemed to be all about products and name brands with very brief bits of a story thrown in. For example, when she was invited to dinner, it felt like just another prop used to name drop another list of expensive designer clothes and accessories.
